Time to fasten the seatbelt!

Updated: May 6, 2020

When I wrote my first blog, I was certain that I would keep it updated frequently, but life is not too easy. Last week I was super occupied with my exam prep and assignments and I felt taking out time for the blog is going for the extra mile!

So, here I am again this week sharing my new daily routine – Driving! It is surely embarrassing if you research on cars and you yourself do not drive often. Thanks to COVID-19, there is a resurgence in my driving skills. The first time I learned driving was back in the Summer of 2016. I was a Manufacturing Engineering sophomore back then, and being in one of the Mechanical Engineering disciplines, I wanted to learn driving very passionately. I made decent headway, being ravenous I wanted to go into overdrive by learning the physics being driving. Thanks to the YouTube channel – ‘Engineering Explained’, it was possible.

Fast forward 2020, it is my first year in the US, I am unaware of most of the driving rules and most importantly I never drove such powerful cars. Fortunately having your close ones nearby will help you in certain ways, and I could learn driving on US roads under their guidance. Coming to the car I learn in, it is Honda CRV (automatic, 4 WD), and trust me, it is a super cool car with a powerful engine (1.5L 4-Cylinder). One may ask if I really was practicing social distancing? – I never got out of the car until I came back home.

Driving on the roads of Pittsburgh is incredibly fun and made me fall in love with the city. Also, one who understands and appreciates Hybrid Electric Vehicles can sense the perfect arena for them. It took me just a few minutes to conclude that this city was perfect for HEVs due to the wavering roads (made me realize that traveling on Columbus roads is boring! :P). I am completely riveted by this alluring ethereal city. From the roads to trees to tunnels to bridges to rivers and the architectural masterpiece - downtown, everything is perfect about it.

The only sad part is that I have never seen these places desolated. It would have been better only if everyone is freed from these social incarcerations after getting rid of the deadly virus. Just like spring brought a change in the mood of the weather, good days are ahead to bring back our joy! Cheers!
